MERITS of Pittsburgh, MEdical Robotics and Information Technology for Medicine and Surgery, is a non-profit consortium of world-class academic and clinical research institutions. Charter members include the Medical Robotics Technology Center (MRTC) at Carnegie Mellon University and the Institute for Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery (ICAOS) at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital. Our offices are located in the Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon. Emerging technologies in robotics, computer vision, information technology, and bioengineering have huge potential for healthcare. The challenge is to integrate these technologies with medicine and bring improved techniques to the patient.
